Explosives Detection Device for Commercial Protection, Military Security and Homeland Defense

The E.L.I.T.E.™ Model EL100 is the only product sensitive to a broad range of explosives that is inexpensive enough, reliable, rugged and simple enough to be distributed to every policeman, special forces team, police and military vehicle for on-the-spot testing for trace explosives. Each disposable card can detect dozens of nitrogen-based explosives as well as bromate mixtures. It can also identify chlorate and perchlorate mixtures and HME precursors. The entire test takes less than two minutes. The EL100 is currently in use with TSA, the FBI, US and other NATO forces as well as police and security agencies around the world. it is also used by commercial security for the protection of power plants, cruise lines, and public transportation. The EL100 is known for its ease of use, long shelf life in all operating and storage conditions, robustness, sensitivity and very low false positive rate.

The E.L.I.T.E.™Model EL240 detects all of the peroxide-based explosives (TATP, MEKP, HMTD, etc.) in one simple, self-contained disposable device, it also detects chlorate and bromate mixtures. The EL240 is unique in that it measures suspect particles AND vapors. It will detect trace amounts of peroxide-based explosives from roughly 500 nanograms and will detect hydrogen peroxide solutions above roughly 30% concentration without having to come in actual contact with the suspect liquid. (Concentration is much lower when in contact with the liquid.) Furthermore, the EL240 distinguishes the peroxides from chlorates/bromates by a color differentiation; orange for peroxides, blue for chlorates/bromates. Peroxide-based explosives are known for their sensitivity to friction-induced detonation so the EL240 has a pen-like design to minimize the likelihood of injury to a user's fingers should detonation occur.

• Model EL240 Example Scenario #1: during a routine search a bottle with an unknown fluid is found. The EL240 tip turns orange when held over the open mouth of the bottle (without touching the liquid), which indicates that the liquid is a highly concentrated solution of hydrogen peroxide.
• Model EL240 Example Scenario #2: taking down a suspected meth lab, officers discover a white powder scattered on a table. The EL240 tip turns orange after being touched against one of the particles, which indicates a positive for peroxide-based explosives.

All of the ELITE™ detection kits are designed to be used in a variety of conditions and by users of different skill and knowledge levels. Currently the ELITE™ is used by forensics specialists in post-blast investigations, law enforcement and military groups in attack-the-network (ATK) operations, and by security guards screening personnel, passengers, and vehicles for evidence of explosives. • Model EL100 Example Scenario #3: school police officers use the EL100 to check the locker or hands of students who have been making threats or have created cause for concern. A positive test prevents a bombing or shooting incident through intervention.
• Model EL240 Example Scenario #3: a security screener notices a white powder in the bottom of a briefcase. A quick test with the EL240 reveals that the powder is likely a peroxide-based explosive.

The EL100 and the EL240 can be ordered on their own as the EL100-BX and the EL240-BX respectively. Both can be ordered as part of complete field kits as well.
