FFI E.L.I.T.E.™ Explosives Detection Technology gives school administrators and school safety officers a new tool in the prevention of serious incidents involving firearms and explosives.
Millions of dollars are lost each year because of bomb threats and the subsequent schools evacuations. The ELITE™ Model EL100 is simple, reliable, and sensitive to a broad range of explosives, black powder, and gun shot residue.
With the EL100 schools administrators and school safety officers can perform quick tests for traces of explosives and gun shot residue on the hands of students or surfaces of students’ belongings. What this means is that there is now a tool that can be used proactively, when a student exhibits suspicious behavior or is making veiled threats, to identify the presence of explosives or gun shot residue, the presence of which would warrant further searches, interviews with parents, and so on.
During bomb threat incidents the EL100 can be used to give school administrators more information to make an informed judgment as to whether students should be allowed to return to school.
FFI also offers bomb blankets that can he used to temporarily cover suspected devices to help prevent dangerous fragmentation (should the device explode), until the bomb squad can come and deal with the device appropriately.
